Things I wish I knew when I first started playing

General:

Play any race you want, the racial bonuses are very slight so don't worry about them. Just consider what continent you want to be on.

For early leveling you should wear plate armor regardless of your class.

You can swap out classes anytime by visiting a skill NPC in most NPC hubs or by talking to a priestess. You can swap your skills out on the fly for a small amount of money.

Adult trees are pretty rare in the wild, as are fruited trees. If you see any you might want to cut them down / harvest the fruit (especially Olives).

You don't need to water plants for them to mature, it will just lower the time it takes for them to do so.

You can hold down a key to continue casting a spell repeatedly.

Buy everstones from a smith to break down your gear in archeum dust, it's more valuable than selling it to a vendor.

LP is earned at 10 LP / 5 min when logged in and 5 LP /5 min when logged off for patrons, F2P players get 5 LP / 5 min when logged in and none when logged out.

You don't want to waste your labor, but there is a cap on how much you can gain, so make sure to use it before you reach the max.

Settings:

Shift + Mouse Drag to move windows around.

Changing the UI size setting to 80% has shown large FPS increases (sometimes double) for many people.

f9 is the default screenshot key.

In settings you can choose to show / hide your helmet as well as pick what shows on your back (primary weapons, bow, glider, cloak).

Quests and Experience:

Quests provide a lot of experience, do them all if you want to level.

You can overachieve on many quests that ask you to do something a certain number of times, this requires gathering/killing 50% more than the quest asks for. You'll notice as soon as you get your first objective on the quest it will say "Turn-in Early." This means you can overachieve on it for more xp and greater rewards. It is always worth overachieving if possible.

If you die talk to the priest to trade labor to get you get your lost experience back.

Only the first person to attack something gets credit for killing it. Group/raid up with others so everyone gets the update. If no one will group with you your default ranged auto attack (from your bow) is a quick way to tag enemies from a far since it has no cast time.

Priestess' have a simple, daily quest that rewards a gilda star for buying a 10 silver item from any general merchant. Any priestess will give you the quest and you can turn it in to any other priestess, it doesn't have to be the same.

The quests with green plants over their heads are crafting quests. They start the trade pack quest line which rewards you with a small farm, a donkey, and a large farm.

Other crafting quests will give you crafting gear which raises your skills while wearing them, keep an eye out as you level your trades since some require you to be at a certain threshold before offering you their quests.

Travel:

When you get your glider you can change a setting to allow double jump (space bar) to deploy your glider.

Mounts have skills and can wear gear. Make sure to check it out and use the sprint skill when travelling long distances.

Mounts take falling damage. Remember to send your mount away before gliding off a high ledge, your mount will follow you.

Keep your mount out when you are farming, it will gain xp following you around, but be careful, mobs will aggro on your mount.

When carrying trade packs don't ride your horse, you walk faster. You also swim faster than your horse.

When using the sprinting potions found on barrels, don't sprint, it slows you down.

If you have any more tips or any questions leave them in the comments.

If free members manage to finish those quests (buy getting the items from the AH for example) can they also get those rewards and use them normally?

  2. You can't place your farms because you can't own land as a free member. You can still use the donkey and you have the farms for if you ever become a patron.
