Secrets of Ayanad Patch Notes and Update Schedule

ArcheAge Updating to Secrets of Ayanad

ArcheAge Updating to Secrets of Ayanad
Adventurers,
ArcheAge is updating to Secrets of Ayanad (Version 1.2 Build 5.0)! The patch notes can be found below.
SECRETS OF AYANAD
• The new zone of Diamond Shores is now available! Far across the Arcadian Sea, and to the west of the existing Auroria zones, this highly contested region benefits from unique access to the Ayanad Library, a variety of conveniences, and multiple climates.
○ For North America and Europe, Diamond Shores is a contested zone that cycles through the war and peace stages. Honor can be earned in Diamond Shores during war. ○ Areas around the Library and the hubs outside are protected similarly to Nui statues.
○ For more details on Diamond Shores, see the Secrets of Ayanad Spotlight: Diamond Shores article.
• The ruins of the Ayanad Library have been discovered and opened to adventurers. The Ayanad Library is a massive construction unlike any other seen in Erenor, consisting of three floors with dozens of rooms as well as boss and ring-event fights. Each level comes in three open instances that anyone can enter and leave at will, regardless of faction or group status.
○ The interior of the Library is a no-PvP area.
○ For more details on the Ayanad Library, see the Secrets of Ayanad Spotlight: Ayanad Library article.
• The maximum character and skill tree levels have been increased to 55!
○ One additional skill point is earned for each level above 50, resulting in a total of 28 skill points at max level.
○ The amount of experience required for each level from 50-55 has been adjusted in our region, and is lower than the original Korean region requirements.
○ For more details on the new level cap, see the Secrets of Ayanad Spotlight: Level 55 article.
• New active skills are available in each skill tree at level 55:
○ Archery: Snipe – A long range, high damage shot that deals damage to everything in its path.
○ Auramancy: Mirror Warp – Readies an option for 5 seconds to strafe-teleport left or right on command.
○ Battlerage: Behind Enemy Lines – A targeted AoE that launches the character forward while snaring and damaging enemies in the targeted area.
○ Defense: Fortress – Shoves enemies away while pulling allies closer. Provides a short-term damage reduction to pulled-in allies.
○ Occultism: Death’s Vengeance – Deals area damage within 15 meters when you die.
○ Sorcery: God’s Whip – Damages all enemies in range with a blast of energy. Can be used multiple times in quick succession.
○ Shadowplay: Throw Dagger – A short-range AoE that damages the target as well as nearby enemies. Also debuffs anyone hit with decreased movement, attack, and casting speeds.
○ Songcraft: [Perform] Grief’s Cadence – Reduces the duration of negative effects on your allies, and increases the duration of negative effects on an enemy.
○ Vitalism: Whirlwind’s Blessing – Boosts attack and movement speeds of your allies while debuffing your enemies in a large area.
○ Witchcraft: Fiend’s Knell – Summons a Weeping Dead ally to attack nearby aggressive targets.
• All initial six tiers of Obsidian Weapons can now be crafted, and the materials for these weapons can be obtained throughout the world.
○ For more details on Obsidian Weapons, see the Secrets of Ayanad Spotlight: Obsidian Weapons article.
• Ayanad Costumes can be crafted with materials obtained in the Ayanad Library. These three costumes can all be crafted at a special crafting bench just outside the Ayanad Library using the following materials:
○ 100 Ayanad Costume Design Scraps
○ 70 Enchanted Skeins
○ 50 Disciple’s Tears
○ 400 Gilda Dust
○ 10 Blood Archeum Crystals
• Experia Sunflower, Duck, Pumpkin, and Pine patches can now be crafted at a Farmer’s Workstation. These are large crops that grant experience instead of items when they are harvested.
GENERAL
• Borderless windowed mode is now available under Options > Screen > Screen Mode.
• Inverted mouse axis is now available under Options > Functionality > Scroll down to the bottom of this pane.
• Trade chat is now faction-wide instead of zone specific.
• When placing new property, if you have two placed properties with unfinished construction, you will be blocked from placing any more. If you have more than two unfinished properties, you will need to reduce that number (through completion or demolition) to bring that number below two before you can claim additional land. Fellowship Plazas do not count towards this limit.
• Monsters in Sungold Fields and Exeloch that were previously capped at level 50 are now uncapped and drop Obsidian Weapon components.
• The proficiency requirements to craft Illustrious through Delphinad tier gear have been reduced or removed.
• Calamitous Vyrava can now be properly summoned with Timespace Scrolls.
• The “Ghost of the Royal Tomb” quest no longer displays a system string when interacting with the Royal Stone Coffin.
• The “Harvest the Cotton” quest can now be completed properly.
• The “Trouble at the Weeping Mine” quest can now be completed properly.
• The Mirage Donkey’s incorrectly high strafe and backup speeds have been fixed.

A Long Road Ahead

“The path to level 55 is long, winding, and filled with a variety of adventures: You can battle creatures in Sungold Fields, Exeloch, and Diamond Shores that have evolved to meet your growing power, and delve into the Library itself to test your mettle against arcane foes. You can complete highly-rewarding tasks from Ayanad Disciples as well as quests unique to specific days of the week. You can even level while taking a reprieve from hostilities, growing unique plants and animals that reward experience when they mature.
To speed your journey, we have eased the amount of experience required to gain levels after 50 in the North American/European version of the game – but don’t worry! With scaling XP requirements from 3 million (for level 51) to 38 million (for level 55), this is not an adventure that can be finished overnight.”

New Levels

“Each level after 50 awards an additional skill point (increasing your overall cap from 23 to 28 at level 55). This allows for new combinations and greater flexibility in your available specs and – along with Obsidian Weapons – makes hybrid characters more relevant in all aspects of the game.
The result is a huge viability boost for specs like Paladin, Skullknight, Trickster, Eidolon, Archon, Druid, Hierophant, Argent, Crusader, and Spellsinger, and a serious challenge to current top-tier specs like Primeval, Darkrunner, Blighter, Daggerspell, and Templar.”

New Powers

The launch of Secrets of Ayanad grants access to highly-desired level 55 abilities that further diversify your options when building your class. Here’s a first look at all of the new level 55 skills and their potential applications!
Battlerage: Behind Enemy Lines
This targeted, mid-range area-of-effect ability launches you into the fray while ensnaring and damaging unsuspecting foes. Due to its quickness, Behind Enemy Lines can function like Teleport in combination with Charge, Overwhelm, or Shadow Step to immediately close distance on your opponent. Common uses include: initiation, disengagement, and riding on a cool hammer.
Defense: Fortress
This battle-shaping control ability flings your enemies back while drawing your allies closer (regardless of existing status effects). Allies who are pulled to the caster also receive a short-duration damage reduction bonus. Common uses include: stopping tunnel vision, self-peeling, and interrupting combos.
Occultism: Death’s Vengeance
This (delightfully) macabre buff unleashes devastating magic-based damage against all foes within 15 meters when you die. Death’s Vengeance has a cast time to apply and then lies dormant until triggered by your death or dispelled by an enemy player. Common uses include: revenge, yolo engages, fun.
Sorcery: God’s Whip
This ability lashes all foes within a targeted 6-meter radius with a blast of withering energy. God’s Whip can be used in rapid succession up to 5 times without incurring a cooldown, and all opponents who are hit by the ability are affected by Electric Shock. Common uses include: street sweeping, multi-opponent PvP, and inducing immediate panic in plate wearers.
Songcraft: [Perform] Grief’s Cadence
This beguiling ballad reduces the duration of negative status effects on your allies while increasing the duration of negative status effects on a charmed enemy. Common uses include: mitigating stunlocks, satisfying obsessive-performance-twisting disorder, and sounding nice.
Witchcraft: Fiend’s Knell
This infernal ability summons a Weeping Dead ally to attack nearby aggressive targets. Your new pet (who operates in addition to your regular combat pet) has a mind of its own and will relentlessly attack enemies for the duration of the spell. Common uses include: increasing damage output and having a short-term fiendship.
Auramancy: Mirror Warp
This 5-second buff adds a toolbar option to immediately strafe-teleport left or right. (Your new teleportation skills remain until you teleport or the buff elapses.) Common uses include: dodging impending doom, gaining a positional advantage, and disorienting melee opponents.
Archery: Snipe
This extremely powerful, long-ranged shot pierces through opponents while dealing heavy damage to everything in its path. Simply pivot mid-cast to change the direction of its attack. Common uses include: group PvP, naval combat, and forcing enemies to dodge something other than missile rain.
Shadowplay: Throw Dagger
Target this short-ranged, area-of-effect ability at a single opponent and watch as the pain spreads to nearby foes! All enemies hit by the dagger’s effect sustain physical damage along with decreased movement, attack speed, and casting speed (while you gain 2 stacks of Bloodthirst per victim). Common uses include: mitigating burst damage, quickly stacking Bloodthirst for a Shadowsmite setup, and making enemies cry.
Vitalism: Whirlwind’s Blessing
This targeted spell empowers the attack and movement speed of allies while debuffing opponents in a 30-meter area. Whirlwind’s Blessing is a powerful tool that can increase your group’s damage in PvE encounters and turn the tide of PvP engagements. Common uses include: battlefield control, coordinated burst damage, and summoning eye-candy magic effects.
The release of Secrets of Ayanad and level 55 are right around the corner, adventurers! Prepare to bring new tactics to the battlefield and your enemies to their knees with these powerful new abilities as you battle for the Secrets of Ayanad!

News Roundup: Obisidian Weapons Spotlight, Q&A Livestream scheduled, and Trion at PAX East

Secrets of Ayanad Spotlight: Obsidian Weapons
It has been discovered that Anthalon, Lord of the Crimson Army, manipulates his most deadly minions with the strength of empowered obsidian. This ancient material corrupts the weak-willed and unwary – do you have what it takes to forge weapons of ultimate authority and crush this source of evil with the very power it wields?
Age of Obsidian
A host of powerful obsidian weapons are coming to ArcheAge in the Secrets of Ayanad game update. These highly-desired armaments are sure to help you unravel the mysteries of the Ayanad Library (and provide strong alternatives to the traditionally-crafted weaponry available today). Each existing type of weapon will gain an obsidian counterpart with unique stats and passive bonuses, and all of their recipes will appear in the Weaponry and Carpentry sections of your Folio with no proficiency requirements to craft them.
Forging your First
A series of quests will guide you through the process of creating your first obsidian weapon. To begin, you’ll need to acquire the salvaged version of a crafted illustrious weapon (of the type you’d like to create). To complete a first-tier obsidian weapon, you must combine this salvage with materials gathered from the inhabitants of Auroria. A freshly-crafted obsidian item binds when it is equipped and can be upgraded a total of five times, with the goal of reaching the sixth – and ultimate – tier.
- The components required to initially forge and then upgrade an obsidian weapon can be found on level 51+ creatures located in Sungold Fields, Exeloch, and Diamond Shores.
- Denizens of the Ayanad Library are known to hold materials you can use to evolve early-tier weapons.
- The components you will need to enhance an obsidian weapon to its final stages are held by extremely difficult library bosses and notorious creatures across Erenor.
- Each upgrade stage also requires a salvaged weapon component.
An Epic Journey
The path to creating an ultimate obsidian weapon is long and arduous, and only the most dedicated will succeed in evolving a weapon to its final form. On the other hand, obsidian crafting is more straightforward than crafting other weapons. Stats for obsidian weapons are static –determined by their rarity grade – instead of being influenced by random types (like Gale or Flame). The rarity grade of your obsidian weapon also has a chance to increase when you craft to the next tier.
Most obsidian weapons are extremely valuable because they provide combinations of stats that are otherwise unattainable. For example, obsidian shortspears gain the +healing attribute while obsidian katanas command +magic attack. To see what type of obsidian best suits your character build, check out the Folio in-game with the release of Secrets of Ayanad, or review the recipes now on the Public Test Server!
