Dread Prophecies Spotlight: Submarines
Time marches onward in Erenor, and the machinists of war welcome an incredible innovation to the winding waterways of the world: submarines. Intrepid adventurers will dive to untold depths and experience Dahuta’s deep seas with fresh eyes in these spectacular new submersibles.

One of the most highly anticipated prophecies of Alpha has finally come to pass, and submarines will re-enter the world of ArcheAge with our update on July 21!
How do submarines function?
Submarines are technically not ships; they’re mounts that function similarly to Cyanfin and Fusciafin with one key difference: submarines can equip armor, which makes them customizable.

Submarines can be crafted by machinists at the carpentry table. The submarine pattern can be purchased on Mirage Isle from the submarine testing area for 250 Gilda Stars, and comes in three colors: Lapis, Ruby, and Platinum. To build the submarine, you’ll also need to acquire materials like Nuri Forest Lumber, Wind Spirit Leather, a Buoyancy Controller, and Solid Shaft, along with pigment and a wax nugget.
Two can ride in one submarine, so feel free to travel these winding waterways with a friend! Both pilot and passenger can take tradepacks along for the ride, offering you a brand new way to escape those pesky pirates! These vehicles have a base speed of 5.5 m/s while submerged or on the surface of the water, but you can boost your speed with upgraded equipment.
Remember, submarines work best when they’re actually marine! Utilizing submarines on land may result long bouts of dragging, odd looks from passing traders, scuffed equipment, and angry machinists who worked tirelessly to make the object you’re now daftly dragging through the dirt.
Submarines support 3 equipment slots: head, waist, and feet. Machinists with a proficiency at or beyond 20,000 can craft the following pieces of equipment:
Head
  • Sonar – provides short-mid range ship scanning capabilities
  • Air Cannon – fires a blast of compressed air to knockback close range opponents
Waist
  • Oxygen Tank – allows the pilot to refill their breath bar while underwater
  • Torpedo Cannon – uses 3 steel ammo to launch a torpedo at a red sea vessel
Feet
  • Burst Engine – enables a short duration, medium cooldown speed burst ability
  • Reinforced Tail – provides a consistent, passive speed increase
  • Giant Tailfin – provides an enhanced, passive speed increase
In combat, submarines are subject to normal mount rules, which means they have a difficult time being convinced to purple up and kill opponents from the same faction. Songcraft’s Quickstep can be used to increase sub speed in the same way as all mounts.
Being fully submersible, submarines are perfect for aiding you in deep water exploration, tradepack runs that require a high amount of subterfuge, and delivering wicked surprises to opposing vessels.
New Limited Time Event, July 21 – August 4: SOS Lifeguard
On July 21, we’ll also welcome a brand new, limited time event to Erenor: SOS Lifeguard!
Adventurers at level 40 or above will join forces with the deep-sea obsessed Daru, Lifeguard Captain Mitcher, who will provide several quests on a daily basis.
Complete the Lifeguard Captain’s quests to receive special Lifeguard Tokens that can be exchanged in Mirage Isle at the Future Promise Workbench for four new lounge chairs, a new potion known as Dahuta’s Will (+10% Swimming Speed), labor potions, wrapped Santiago’s fishing rods, and even a special Copper Steamfish Submarine. (Please note that the Copper version of the sub is an event reward and therefore cannot equip armor).
Become a lifeguard as soon as possible, as this event will only last until August 4, 2015 at 5PM PDT (-7 GMT)!
The Steamfish are easy to craft, offer new exploration and travel opportunities, and they’re guaranteed to be more effective than a donkey when it comes to underwater travel. Take command of the depths with Steamfish Submarines on July 21!
