Basic Trade Run Step-By-Step Explanation for Beginners

Here we have the specialty workbench, the big blue thing in the middle of the screen. It lets you create specialty trade packs as you can see on the left. I have the materials ready in my inventory to create an apple tart trade pack. This pack is a specialty of falcorth plains and can only be created in this zone.

This is what the pack looks like when you finish creating it. It doesn't go to your inventory, it automatically removes your glider and equips to that slot. If you look at the debuff on my character, the pack weighs a lot and slows you down immensely.

This is my donkey and he makes transporting packs much easier because of his special ability, Dreaming Donkey, which consumes a carrot to speed him up--a skill that can only be used while carrying a pack. You get a free donkey by doing the blue salt quest line, if I remember right (that's where I got mine).

For this run I'll be using an airship to go to Villanelle. You can see the airship locations by their massive towers with distinct ledges for boarding.

This is me checking the trade info panel to see the efficiency of delivering this pack to Villanelle. It's at 130% right now, sweet. Snowlion Yarn is only at 111% which means more people are delivering yarn than apple tarts.

These little guys are how you tell which blimp you are boarding. He is the Villanelle Gate Guide, therefore the ship going to Villanelle will arrive at the bridge in the screensnap.

After about 5 minutes, here comes the blimp. It can take awhile because they're very slow.

Boarded the ship.

Arriving at Villanelle, lot of folks ready to leave.

Once you're in the zone, you can check the map and select "Gold Trader" to highlight the destination on your map. It's easy to confuse the gold trader icon with the specialty workbench icon so I recommend disabling the latter until you're familiar with where the gold trader is.

Found him. Time to turn this pack in.

Here's what the screen looks like when you press F to turn the pack into the gold trader. Read everything here as it's all pretty important. The creator of the pack gets 20% and the seller gets 80% (100% if you make it and turn it in yourself). You do not receive gold until 22 hours later and it comes in the mail. Also the efficiency went to 129% before I arrived, still very high though.

Trade run completed. Again, you don't get your money until 22 hours later.

Notice how the pack is now gone off my back, allowing me to reequip my glider. It's an important step because you never know when you'll need your glider next, and it could get you killed if you forget.

Now you're free to recall back home or port elsewhere. Hope this helped.

A huge thanks to dorkrock2 from the ArcheAge subreddit for letting us post his great Trade Run Introduction guide.
